Welsh Baccalaureate

Most of the learning providers within Powys offer the Advanced Welsh Baccalaureate Qualification.

What is it?

The Welsh Baccalaureate aims to enable learners to develop and demonstrate an understanding of the essential employability skills. These are the skills that employers and further education establishments value and which learners need for learning, work and life.

So... it isn't the welsh language?

No!

How it assessed?

The Welsh Baccalaureate is delivered over two years, starting in Year 12. There is no examination within the course and is graded between A* to E.

Who accepts it?

University responses to the new WBQ qualification have been very positive, and they recognise the value of the more rigorous new specification. Many universities have been liaising with the WJEC to produce challenges that will help students better prepare to make the transition from A levels to studying in Higher Education.

Where is it compulsory?
