Overview of the course

A Level Music provides pupils with the opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of how Music works and how it has developed since the Baroque Period. The subject has a strong academic reputation that is well respected by Universities, whether to study music or not.

By the end of the course pupils will have developed a detailed understanding of 2 set works and a variety of genres (outlined below) throughout history. Students will also have further developed their understanding of Performing, Composing and have become more confident with the basics of music theory and how to apply this to their appraising skills.

The majority of pupils looking to take A Level Music will need to have taken GCSE Music, however, a musician who is able to perform to a minimum of Grade 5 standard and has passed at least Grade 3, A Level Music is a definite option for you!

Opportunities

After completing the programme, successful candidates may progress onto multiple courses at University, as well as various employment opportunities within the industry.
